#Repost @theseandevine with @repostapp. ・・・ Wandering around Bed Stuy while helping some investors find good townhouse options near the Nostrand Avenue "A" subway stop. So much beautiful architecture in this neighborhood, and an interesting (though, at times, frustrating) history. Many of the homes lining its streets were built by speculative developers in the late 1800s, early 1900s. As the 1800s wound down, the addition of electric trolleys and an elevated track along Fulton Street drew working- and middle-class families to the area. The Great Depression, however, severely impacted the neighborhood. By the 1960s, gang wars and urban riots further worsened conditions. In the 2000s, after decades of struggle, Bed Stuy again became a destination as crime decreased and demand for affordable housing increased. Bed Stuy has a rich cultural history. Countless icons were born in and of its struggle. Biggie Smalls, Jay Z, Frank McCourt, Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock, Mike Tyson, and Lenny Wilkens all called Bed Stuy home at one time or another. #brooklyn #bedstuy #bedstuydoordie #doordie #investment #nostrandave #investmentproperties #brooklynhistory #nychistory #history #biggiesmalls #jayz #miketyson #frankmccourt #tracymorgan #jackierobinson #chrisrock #lennywilkens #bkstandup #brooklynstandup #bluesky #nyc #nycrealestate #brooklynrealestate #realestate #investmentrealestate
